Murals Honoring Ellison Onizuka: As part of our ongoing support of local artists and commitment to celebrating community culture, we are proud to unveil two vibrant murals at Āto, as covered by CBS LA. The public art installation was completed in collaboration with the Little Tokyo Community Council. The murals are the vision of renowned Japanese American artist Kent Yoshimura. Yoshimura was commissioned to design the murals on the north and south sides of Āto, our seven-story collection of downtown flats now taking shape on Astronaut Ellison S. Onizuka Street in Little Tokyo. Yoshimura has paid homage to Onizuka, the first Asian American and the first person of Japanese origin to reach space.
